On May 4, at 7:00 pm, Rachel Therrien will perform in the ILKO Gallery. The musician will visit Uzhgorod for the first time.
The trainee of the legendary Ron Di Lauro (trumpeter of Aretta Franklin and Frank Sinatra Jr.), Grand Prix winner of the Montreal Jazz Festival (one of the most prestigious festivals in the world), follower of Miles Davis, Rachel Therrien makes intelligent and sophisticated music at the intersection of jazz and world music. Musical critics call her a "tireless innovator".
Her unique style is a fusion of New Orleans jazz, fiery Cuban rhythms, Colombian funk, afrobeat and jazz rock.
She skillfully uses elements of different musical cultures to create a new sound, enriching the texture of modern jazz with melodic and rhythmic techniques of Africa, Cuba, Spain and Canada.
In Ukraine, Rachel presents an original program dedicated to the International Jazz Days, which includes tracks from the 4th studio album Why Do not You Try, which was recently released and became the album of the month according to the Downbeat Magazine.
