More than 17,500 Transcarpathians have taken advantage of the “Affordable Medicines” program

It’s been almost a year since the launch of the "Affordable Medicines" program, and today we can confidently say that the program is successful. It is gaining momentum, the Register of medicines subject to reimbursement is expanding, new producers and pharmacies join the program.

Olga Chemet, the head of the treatment and prevention work organization division of the Department of Health, says that this year, for Transcarpathia, UAH 32 million 438, 9 thousand is provided for the implementation of the "Affordable Medicines". As of March 1, the region has already received UAH 5 million 406.9 thousand and, according to the decision of the head of the Regional State Administration, distributed the funds between the districts and the cities of the region, and local authorities – between the medical institutions.

As of March 5, 132 agreements were concluded with 255 pharmacies, who expressed their desire to participate in the Government program. The medical staff within the framework of the "Affordable Medicines" program wrote 56,503 prescriptions. Since the beginning of 2018, 17,516 Transcarpathian people have taken the opportunity to receive the medicines they need at reduced prices, and some for free. 40,359 prescriptions at UAH 2 million 98,7 thousand have already been filled. The average cost of one prescription is 52.00 UAH.

Recall that on January 22 this year, the register of medicines subject to reimbursement under the "Affordable Medicines" program expanded to 239 drugs, including 18 Ukrainian and 30 foreign manufacturers. The list of free drugs was increased by an additional 13 names. The new list already contains 47 drugs, which will be 100 percent reimbursed at public expense, that is, patients will receive these drugs for free. Others are sold at reduced prices. The amount ranges from a few kopiykas to several tens of hryvnias.
