Russian special services tried to use local "activists" to set fire to the office, but they refused to participate in the provocation
The criminals detained by the police, who set fire to the office of the Society of Hungarian Culture of Transcarpathia at night on February 27, are inhabitants of Cherkasy and Kropyvnytsky.
– It is a shame that among the detainees, there are participants of the ATO, who agreed to commit this shameful crime tempted by money, – Hennadiy Moskal said. – I emphasize that the criminals are not members of any political party or public organization; the arson for them was just a way to make money, and not an ideological action. That does not apply to the organizer who has been identified too.
It is a resident of Transnistria, who escaped immediately after the crime. According to our information, he is an employee of the MGB (Ministry of State Security) of Transnistria. Given the status of this territory, he is now out of reach of Ukrainian law enforcement and judicial authorities, but no one has any doubt that the second arson of the SHCT office (as well as the first one on the night of February 4, committed by Polish citizens, members of the right-wing radical organization "Phalanga") was organized by the FSB of Russia.
We are sincerely grateful to the Security Service of Ukraine for the National Police for a brilliant operation and prompt disclosure of the crime. Especially, given the fact that these criminals were acting much more professionally than the Polish right-wing radicals.
According to our information, the Russians will continue to arrange various criminal actions to try to drive a wedge between Ukrainians and Hungarians. In particular, in connection with the celebration of the anniversary of the Carpathian Ukraine in the middle of March. Therefore, we call on all to be vigilant and not to follow provocations in order not to become blind weapons in the hands of Russian special services.
