European experts have joined the pilot project on early intervention in Transcarpathia (PHOTOS)

In May 2017, Ukraine launched the French-Ukrainian Twinning project "Supporting the Ukrainian authorities in developing the legislative and administrative framework for implementing early intervention and rehabilitation of children with disabilities and children at risk of getting a disability." The project is funded by the European Union.

In connection with this, on March 1 and 2, experts of the above mentioned project came to Transcarpathia with a working visit. Experts from France, Portugal and Greece came to Uzhgorod to share their experiences, and at the same time to learn the positive experience of Ukraine in providing early intervention services. Among the experts, there are specialists working in the ministries of social policy and healthcare in their respective countries. Later, the experience of early intervention in these countries and in Ukraine will be presented and analyzed in these countries.

Andriy TRETYAK, the project manager on the French side, told about the goals and plans of the joint project.

He stressed that the early intervention reform, which began in Ukraine in 2016, involves cooperation between ministries of social policy, health care and education. Two pilot regions were selected for implementation of the project – Odesa and Transcarpathian.

– During our first visit, we intend to share our ideas with our colleagues and develop a plan for the next year. There are significant advances in early intervention in Ukraine, and we will try to introduce our elements, even those that have not yet been developed.

This time, we will spend two days in Uzhgorod. And, in addition to communicating with colleagues at the Medical and Rehabilitation Center "Way to Life", we will take part in the Advisory Board at the Transcarpathian Regional Administration. Here we will discuss everything together and approve the plan of work that we will carry out in Transcarpathia.
