"In the comfort of still life" is the title of the retrospective exhibition of works by People’s Artist of Ukraine, Corresponding Member of the National Academy of Arts of Ukraine, Boris Kuzma, which opened several days ago in the Transcarpathian Art Museum. The occasion is the 60th anniversary of the artist, which was celebrated on February 22. Therefore, the halls were crowded.
An art critic, museum employee Olena Prykhodko was moderating the event. Boris Kuzma was standing "on the podium" not alone, as usual, but with his artist wife Victoria and son Boris.
Then, the guests congratulated the artist. Officials, politicians. In particular, the Mayor Bohdan Andriyv presented a bouquet to the artist’s mother. The President of the National Academy of Arts of Ukraine Andriy Chebykin noted that the artist is taking his own way, but the basis is the Transcarpathian school of painting. He also awarded Boris Kuzma with the highest award of the academy – gold medal (for great artistic achievements). Guests from Lviv organization of the National Union of Artists of Ukraine presented the highest award of the Union – medal of Tetyana Yablonska.
The artist’s mother told us that Boris, when he was little, was drawing wherever he could, he especially loved to draw in notebooks. The sister with daughter came to the event from Bavaria wearing the national costumes of the country where they live. She brought the brother as a gift a "beer" hat, that is worn by the visitors of the largest beer festival of Europe "Oktoberfest". Some gave flowers, strong drinks, books, and others gave… pickled mushrooms.
