Marina Poroshenko opened the first inclusive resource center in Transcarpathia (PHOTO-REPORT)

Today, the wife of the President of Ukraine Marina Poroshenko is on a working visit to Transcarpathia.

During the visit, the first lady and the head of the Transcarpathian Regional State Administration Hennadiy Moskal signed the Memorandum on the accession of the region to the national project of the Poroshenko Charitable Foundation "Inclusive education", which is being implemented jointly with the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine.

According to the President’s wife, there are currently 141 inclusive schools in Transcarpathian region, where 298 students with special educational needs study, but only about 1.5% of "special" children of Transcarpathia are covered by inclusive education.

Mrs. Poroshenko gave Hennadiy Moskal typical projects of the Library and Resource Room to ensure affordable and quality education for children with special educational needs. The first lady expects that these projects will be implemented in Transcarpathia in the near future.

During the visit, Marina Poroshenko and Hennadiy Moskal held a meeting with the chairpersons of district councils, united communities and city mayors on the creation of a network of Inclusive Resource Centers in Transcarpathian region. Followng the meeting, the relevant Memorandum of Cooperation between the Regional State Administration and heads of local self-government was signed, as well as the opening of 18 such establishments by September 1, 2018 was planned. 

The first such center in Transcarpathian region was opened by Marina Poroshenko. The institution is created in pursuance of the Resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine and is intended to provide support for children with special educational needs aged from 2 to 18.
