The employees of the tax police in Transcarpathian region seized 139 thousand 976 packs of cigarettes without excise tax stamps of Ukraine, which a Belarusian citizen tried to take to the Czech Republic hidden in timber products.
In the framework of the investigation of a criminal proceeding under Part 1 of Article 204 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, the fact of the purchase, storage and transportation of illegally manufactured tobacco products was found out.
The citizen of Belarus tried to carry this batch of cigarettes in a truck DAF through the checkpoint "Uzhgorod-Vysne Nemecke" of the Transcarpathian Customs, hiding them from customs control in timber products.
As a results of the measures taken, 139 thousand 976 packs of tobacco products of one of the Belarusian factories without excise stamps of Ukraine were found in this truck. The estimated cost of the seized cigarettes is about UAH 2 million.
The vehicle and the accompanying documents were also seized.
The investigation continues.
