Reporting to the deputies about the work of the Regional Council this year, Mykhailo Rivis emphasized that one of the important areas of its activity is the issue of cooperation between territorial communities and governments of European countries. During this period, there have been a number of activities aimed at community development, increasing the efficiency of cross-border cooperation and attracting additional funds for the development of the region.
The activities aimed at deepening international cooperation with Hungarian partners have also been intensified. Almost 100 projects on energy saving, repair of social institutions at the total of more than UAH 30 million have been implemented over the past three years in cooperation with Hungarian partners within the framework of the Eastern Partnership program.
The activities to promote closer cooperation in the Slovak-Ukrainian cross-border region have also been intensified, in particular in the area of border development planning through the introduction of a joint innovation process. Cross-border cooperation with Romanian and Polish partners is developing.
And during the meeting of the regional leadership with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Croatia Tomislav Vidosevic in Ukraine, they discussed the opening of the Honorary Consulate of Croatia in Transcarpathian region and the support for the intentions to intensify cooperation.
– Thanks to the established cooperation and the signing of an agreement with the Ústecký kraj, we managed to resolve the priority issue on the opening of the Czech House in Uzhgorod, which is scheduled for January 15, 2018. Transcarpathians will be able to receive visas there without going to Lviv, – Mykhailo Rivis summed up.
