Thefts in supermarkets in Uzhgorod have become more frequent

Over the past three days, Uzhgorod police received three calls from one of the supermarkets in the city. As a result, the suspects in the theft of goods were detained. 

Recently, police officers detained two minors who had stolen sweets and a pair of men’s socks in one of Uzhgorod supermarkets. The next day, at the same place, police officers detained a 46-year-old resident of Uzhgorod. And a day later – a 41-year-old resident of the village of Tarnivtsi, who tried to leave past the cash register without paying for goods, however, she was caught on CCTV cameras. 

Citizens should remember that such offenses are punishable under Article 51 of the Code of Ukraine on Administrative Offenses – theft of property. The sanction of the article provides for punishment in the form of a fine in amount of up to 30 tax-free minimum incomes, correctional labor for up to one month, or administrative arrest for up to 10 days.
