At present, the maximum flood wave is passing through low-lying areas of Transcarpathia near the state border of Ukraine.
In the middle reaches of the main water arteries of Transcarpathia, the water levels have dropped and returned to the channels.
"Over the next few days, water will be gradually flowing down from agricultural land by gravity," – Hennadiy Moskal says. – In the flooded areas within the settlements, mobile and stationary pumping stations continue to pump out the water. In the village of Vilkhivka (Irshava district), which suffered from flooding the most, during the past day, rescuers pumped out about 6 million cubic meters of water.
As of 9.00 Monday (18.12), the highest water level in the Borzhava river is in the village of Verkhni Remety near Beregovo. The water has reached the historic peak of a catastrophic flood in 2001, and today it will be passing through Beregovo district until flowing into the Tisa river. The dams along the Borzhava have been reconstructed, so we do not expect flooding of settlements. The situation is under constant control.
In the Latorytsya river, the highest water level is passing near Chop. The wave height is 7.5 m, which is also the historic maximum of the catastrophic flood of 2001. The dam has 1.5 meters extra height, but the main danger is not the threat of overflow, but whether the moisture-saturated body of the damper will hold. The dam is being constantly monitored.
In the Tisa river, the highest water level was in the village of Vylok. The wave height is 5.7 meters, the water has already gone to the territory of Hungary and because of the features of the channel today will return to the territory of Ukraine near Chop. There is no threat of flooding.
Vehicular on previously flooded sections of the national road "Mukachevo-Rohatyn" near the village of Vilkhivka and local road "Irshava-Vynogradiv" near the village of Zarichchia is free. On the local road "Shalanky – V.Komyaty" in Vynogradiv district, the traffic is still blocked. In the flooded areas of different districts of Transcarpathia, 21 pumping stations continue to pump out water.
Nobody was killed or injured as a result of the December flood, also there have been no destructions of private buildings and social facilities.
