On Sunday, November 19, at 18.00, the Transcarpathian Academic Regional Ukrainian Music and Drama Theater named after Sherehiy brothers invites to the first premiere of this season. This time, the theater will present one-act drama "A Step from Love" based on the famous work of Mykhailo Staritsky "Gypsy Aza". The play is full of passion, music and, of course, dances and singing.
Interestingly, the play is based on real events that took place in Volyn in the middle of the nineteenth century. Polish writer Jozef-Ignat Kraszewski was the first to tell this tragic love story.
Transcarpathian production was developed by the Honored Artist of Ukraine Vasyl Shershun.
The director made his own stage version of "A Step from Love". Many young actors play leading roles, which is typical for Vasyl Shershun’s productions.
The director himself believes that his play touches upon the eternal theme of love and betrayal, and also gives us the opportunity to better know other cultures. Especially since the largest Roma community in Ukraine lives in Transcarpathia.
Before the premiere, at 17.00, a traditional meeting of journalists with the cast and crew of "A Step from Love" will take place.
Oleksandr Havrosh, dramaturg of the Transcarpathian Regional Ukrainian Music and Drama Theater
