Illegal tie-in into the oil pipeline was found in Uzhgorod district

Officers of the Uzhgorod district police department are conducting searches in the area where an illegal tie-in into the oil pipeline was found yesterday. The police have opened a criminal proceeding over the unlawful acts

The Uzhgorod District Police Department received a report about an illegal tie-in found in the village of Pidhorb. 
The law enforcement officers, who arrived at the scene, found out that a valve was welded on the 386th kilometer of the oil pipeline. 
At the moment of the investigation team’s arrival, the valve was open. On the surface of the ground, at a distance of about 300 meters, law enforcement officers found a spilled liquid, similar to petroleum products. The liquid was pumped off, there are no threats to the lives of people and environmental pollution. 
The police opened a criminal proceeding over the incdent under Article 292 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (Damage to the main oil product pipelines). 
The investigation continues. The police are conducting investigative work at the site and establishing the length of the connected hose. In addition, they are identifying people who may be involved in illegal extraction of petroleum products.
