Last time, I promised that I would continue the story of my passion for the old doors of Uzhgorod from the newer, Czechoslovak period.
Yes, they may not be so sophisticated, carved, but they belong to another time, another style. First of all, interwar Czech functionalism. These doors fit perfectly to the buildings they are installed on.
So, let’s start the walk. The first photograph, I confess, was made not now, but several years ago. These thickets on the side doors of the medical faculty of UzhNU are now gone. And it’s a pity…
I have a photo of 2005, then this place looked even more futuristic. Kind of like a jungle in the city center…
There is something about this, isn’t it?
Of course, there are not so many such places. Similar doors can be found in the Halahov district. Where the entrance doors are on both sides, and residents prefer the interior doors leading to courtyards.
It is interesting that at that time doors were decorated with a lot of metal parts.

Nowadays, vandals sometimes steal them for scrap.
But there are also a lot of plain wooden doors. And unfortunately, mostly in poor condition. Even in memorial museum houses. Shame…
Next time, I will show you my photos of interesting doors in other cities. Even other countries. And we’ll start with neighboring, friendly and very hospitable Košice.
