Is ciggarette smuggling over? The cost of cigarettes in Ukraine will be brought to European level

The Ministry of Finance has developed a bill, according to which prices for tobacco products may rise to the European level.

According to the replyua.net, the relevant bill was registered on September 18 in the Verkhovna Rada. The text of the bill has not yet been posted on the site, but some of its nuances have been known before – in particular, the government is going to increase prices for cigarettes to the European level in a few years. Now a thousand cigarettes in Ukraine cost 21 euros, and by 2025 their price will increase to 90 euros. That is, they will become almost five times more expensive.

However, the government assures that the increase in excise rates will be very slow: in 2018, cigarette prices will rise by 29 percent, and then by 20 percent each subsequent year.

Recall that prices for alcohol products in Ukraine are also rising, but the government has not yet spoken about plans to raise the prices for alcoholic beverages to the European level.
