International youth festival “Beauty around me” is taking place in Transcarpathia for the second time

"Unique in diversity" – under this slogan, the international youth festival "Beauty around me" has started in Uzhgorod. The day before, young active people from Morocco, the United States, India, Nigeria, Egypt, Zimbabwe, Ghana, Jordan, as well as Hungary, Slovakia and from different parts of Ukraine (in total more than 200 participants) arrived to the regional center of Transcarpathia. This festival is held in Transcarpathia for the second time.

Today, the participants met each other, in the evening the official opening of the festival took place. At the beginning of the celebrations, the head of the Physical Culture and Sport Division of the Youth and Sports Department of the Transcarpathian Regional State Administration Oleg Murtazin read out welcome word from the Minister of Youth and Sports of Ukraine Igor Zhdanov, then the Deputy Head of the Transcarpathian Regional Administration Oleksandr Petik, the Deputy Mayor of Uzhgorod Oleksandr Bilak, the regional manager of the Peace Corps Natalia Nikolayeva, official representative of foreign students in Uzhgorod Dr. Henri welcomed the participants.

The festival will last for two days. The program includes various games in inter-ethnic teams, master classes, a fair of cultures, presentation of traditions, etc. Young activists will be able to share experiences, learn about the problems of youth in different countries and tell about their achievements.

 The main events will take place on Saturday, September 16, on Teatralna Square. Representatives from each country will have their locations where they will be presenting their culture. Guests will be able to chat with representatives of different cultures, take part in games and master classes, get acquainted with national clothes, taste traditional dishes and drinks, see household items. For example, they will be able to take part in yoga lessons, try on sari, join the knight fights, take part in a master class on pottery. Representatives of each country will also take part in the concert program, presenting their songs and dances. According to the organizers, the festival aims at destroying stereotypes and creating a sense of tolerance through the exchange of unique and vivid traditions of peoples.

The organizer is the Department of Youth and Sports of the Transcarpathian Regional State Administration. The Uzhgorod City Council also provided support in the organization of the event. The co-organizers are the NGO "Ekosfera" (Executive Director Katerina Stankevich), the Uzhgorod City Council Communal Agency "Uzhgorod Development Agency" (director Marianna Sobran), NYCUkraine Zakarpattia (Olena Bilanina), NGO "United Students", EuropeanSchool.
