Last summer, a new problem was encountered in Hungary’s international transport communications with other European countries, the MyHungary.Net reports. Long queues emerged at the border crossing points with Croatia, Serbia and Ukraine, in particular – Transcarpathia.
Over the past 20 years, only six border crossing points have been built. The Hungarian government plans to build another six over the next five years. In addition to the creation of border crossing points, the government has decided to allocate 2,500 billion forints (8.2 billion euros) to build 900 kilometers of highways with two lanes. The work is scheduled to be completed by 2022. The construction of the last section of the M3 motorway between Vásárosnamény and the Ukrainian border is scheduled to start in early 2021.
