On Independence Day, Narodna Square in Uzhgorod will be decorated with a huge trident made of real chrysanthemums

And the ceremonial procession with a 100-meter-long state flag will be escorted by the ensemble of drummers of the Donetsk regional police

The celebrations on the occasion of the main state holidays – the Day of the State Flag and the Independence Day of Ukraine in Uzhgorod will begin on August 23. On this day, starting from 9:00 am, on Narodna Square, soldiers in a ceremonial uniform will be standing guard of honor near the flagpole with the raised flag.

At 12 o’clock, the ceremony of laying flowers at the monument to Taras Shevchenko will begin with the participation of the regional and city leadership, law enforcement agencies, the military and the public, during which the Honored academic Transcarpathian folk choir will perform "Prayer for Ukraine".

At 12.30, a procession with a 100-meter-long State Flag will start marching from Narodna Square to the monument to the President of the Carpathian Ukraine, Augustine Voloshin on Nezalezhnist embankment. The procession will be headed by the ensemble of drummers of the Donetsk regional police that have come to Uzhgorod under the "East and West together" campaign.

On Nezalezhnist embankment, flowers will be laid to the monument of Augustine Voloshin, the Ukrainian anthem will be performed, after which the procession will march to Teatralna Square and unite the two banks of the Uzh with the 100-meter-long banner through the pedestrian bridge.

At 14:00, the celebration will continue in the Regional Academic Music and Drama Theater.

The next day, August 24, at 6 o’clock in the morning, the Honored academic Transcarpathian folk choir traditionally at dawn will congratulate the country on Independence Day. This year the choir will perform "Prayer for Ukraine" on Narodna Square. 
And from the 8.00 to 21.00 of the same day, solemn fanfares will play every hour at the balcony of the regional state administration. Musicians of the regional philharmonic will be performing excerpts the famous song "Verkhovyna, svitky ty nash!"

The highlight of this year’s celebration in Uzhgorod will be a flower arrangement with live chrysanthemums in the form of a trident on a yellow-and-blue background measuring 7×7 meters with a photo zone.
