Uzhgorod fencer and the national team of Ukraine finished sixth at the World Championship (PHOTOS)

Unfortunately, the seventh day of the World Fencing Championship did not bring any awards for the national team of Ukraine. Anatoliy Herey from Uzhgorod was competing in the men’s epee team. 

The boys started the competition in 1/16 finals. Here, they defeated the Netherlands national team – 45:32. In the next stage, Bogdan Nikishin, Anatoliy Herey, Maksym Khvorost and Volodymyr Stankevich Jr. were fencing against the team of Kazakhstan, and defeated them with the same score – 45:32. 

The match with the archrivals of the Ukrainian musketeers – Russians – took place in 1/8 finals. The result was 36:45 not in our favor.   

Then the Ukrainian team was competing for 5-8 places. Here, they first victoriously defeated Egypt – 46:28, and, unfortunately, lost just one point to another archrivals – the Italians. 41:42 – and the Ukrainians place sixth at the World Championship (out of 38 national teams).
