In Transcarpathia, border guards detained three smugglers and found nearly 7.5 thousand packs of cigarettes

Almost 7.5 thousand packs of cigarettes were detained yesterday by border guards of the Mukachevo detachment during the active phase of the operation "Frontier-2017". Two Ukrainian citizens aged 26 and 34 tried to transport six packages with 12 boxes of cigarette across the Botar canal, which forms the border with Hungary.

Currently, reports of administrative violations were drawn up against the detainees under Part 1 of Art. 204 "Illegal crossing or attempted illegal crossing of the state border of Ukraine", the case was referred to court. The packages of tobacco products, which contained 6,000 packs of cigarettes without excise stamps, were delivered to the unit and subsequently will be handed over to the SFS employees.

Two more packages of tobacco products were found during patrolling by border guards of the "Dilove" department. Offenders planned to illegally transport 1,400 packs of cigarettes to neighboring Romania. Also, during operational and search activities, near the place, where the cigarettes were found, the border guards detained a man without documents, who is likely to be involved in an attempt to smuggle cigarettes across the border. The found tobacco products and the detainee, who told that he was a citizen of Ukraine, were taken to the department of the Border Guard Service "Dilove". Measures to establish all the circumstances of the offense are being taken.
