The main fencing competition of the year – World Championship – has begun in the German city of Leipzig.
Uzhgorod fencer Anatoliy Herey is also competing in the national team of Ukraine.
In the group stage of the individual competition, the athelete Uzhgorodets started together with Maksym Khvorost and Volodymyr Stankevich.
Anatoliy won all six matches and he qualified to the 1/64 finals. In total, 215 athletes from all over the world are participating.
The leader of the national team Bogdan Nikishin was not competing in the group stage, he will start immediately from the TAB 64 (match against Oleg Sokolov from Uzbekistan).
Our Anatoliy Herey will fence with Savvas Kavvadias from Greece.

In addition, Anatoliy Herey, Bogdan Nikishin, Maksym Khvorost, Volodymyr Stankevych will be competing for the national team of Ukraine on July 25th in team competition (online results are HERE). Recal that the Ukrainian fencers are the current world champions, they won the title in Moscow in 2015.
