Safe tourism: rescuers ask tourists to get registered before going to the mountains

A hike in the mountains (in winter or in summer) is not a walk in a park. Such trips are associated with considerable risks: to get lost, to fall from a rock, to encounter predatory animals, etc. However, tourists often do not think about such risks and believe that they can conquer mountain slopes without the help of professionals. And this often ends tragically.

To avoid troubles, before going into the mountains, be sure to get registered with the nearest rescue unit (the list can found on the site of the Rescue Service) and consult with experts.

When registering, leave with the rescuers the planned route, contact numbers, and the estimated time of completion of the trip. After descending from the mountains, inform the representatives of the Rescue Service that everyone has safely reached the destination. Otherwise, the rescuers will start searching for a tourist group.

During the registration, mountain rescuers will help you to prepare for the trip, namely:

– Provide necessary and reliable information on potential dangers on the routes;

– Share the data on the current hydro- and meteorological conditions of the chosen area;

– Advise on the safe passage of a certain route;

– Explain the rules of personal and group safety;

– Check your personal equipment, communication facilities, maps, food and medicine selection.

In addition, in the event of an accident, the registration of tourist groups reduces the time of search for lost or injured people.

Remember that registration at the rescue unit is FREE, but it can save you and your relatives from possible fatal consequences of the hike!
