This year’s capricious summer weather, brought rain to the holiday of "Midsummer", that took place on July 7 on the bank of the Uzh. However, there was no shortage of fun.
The celebration of the ancient Slavic holiday – Midsummer – has been held in Uzhgorod for several years now, and for the third time the celebration was organized by a young director Natalia Sentymrey. This time, Uzhgorod residents were invited to the bank of the Uzh in the city center (near the pedestrian bridge), and the holiday was adorned with music and master classes. Authentic songs in modern arrangements were performed by Miroslava Kopynets, Katerina Dunduk also sang songs, and Tetyana Petrenko played bandura. The attributes of the summer festival are water, colorful summer flowers, and the Midsummer bonfire. The girls were making flower crowns and throwing them into the river to tell fortune, then all the guests were watching the fire show and waiting for the main symbol of the holiday…
The highlight of the event was the volunteer stall "Fern Blossom", where the girls from the Movement to support Transcarpathian soldiers offered dishes of Ukrainian cuisine (dumplings with cherry, poppy seeds and berries) and exclusive home-made drinks. The proceeds will be used not only to help the army, but also for the treatment of a young Katrusia Lisovets.
Although there were not too many people at the holiday due to the rain, the event finished, of course, with the Midsummer fire, jumps over it and dances to Ukrainian music.
