The prosecutor’s office initiated an investigation into the death of a pregnant woman in Uzhgorod

This was reported to the Mukachevo.net the spokeswoman of Transcarpathian prosecution office Victoria Popovich.

According to her, neither the prosecutor’s office nor the police have received a statement from relatives, but the prosecutors have the right to initiate proceedings or give instructions to register it with the police based on the reports in the media.

Thus, the proceeding under Part 1 of Article 140 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, i.e. improper performance of professional duties, was registered on July 1.

Recall that on Sunday, June 25, a young woman pregnant with twins died in Uzhgorod perinatal center.  The woman was diagnosed with lung edema and preeclampsia – a disease that occurs during pregnancy, childbirth and in the postpartum period; it is a form of late pregnancy toxicosis.

Acording to the chief of the health department of Uzhgorod city council Vasyl Reshetar, the special commission is investigating whether Uzhgorod doctors did everything possible to save the pregnant woman.
