On June 22, at about 11:57, the Fire and Rescue Unit of Beregovo was reported about a fire in a building on Mukachivska street. It was reported by a local resident Mykhailo, who had noticed thick smoke coming out of the building. He immediately called the rescue service "101" and ran into the burning building, where, according to other local residents, who had gathered at the site of the fire, there could have been a person. Because of the dense smoke, it was difficult to look for the man, but after some time Mykhailo did find him and took him outside.

Meanwhile, rescuers of the 12th State Fire and Rescue Unit of Beregovo arrived at the scene. They localized the fire at 12:09 and completely eliminated it at 12:34. The fire destroyed the roof and the ceiling on the area of 30 square meters and damaged the property inside. The firefighters saved neighboring building from the fire.

The victim was taken to Beregovo Central Hospital with II degree burns of the face, hands and chest. The victim is now in the intensive care unit of the hospital. According to relatives, the 63-year-old man would often smoke while being drunk, so it was probably the cause of the fire in the building.

Rescuers call Transcarpathians to be careful while smoking, or give it up at all.

Remember, smoking not only harms your health but can cause loss of life. Take care of yourself and your loved ones!
