Transcarpathians have an opportunity to visit the Lavender Festival in neighboring Hungary

The annual lavender festival (Tihanyi Levendula Fesztivál) has begun on the Tihanyi Peninsula in Hungary, the MyHungary.Net reported. This year, the thirteenth festival will take place from 19 to 30 of June. At the festival, you’ll have a chance to stroll through the flowering fields, to gather flowers, to learn about the technology of essential oil production, and to visit souvenir shops and restaurants. Local manufacturers pay special attention to lavender products. Those are not only essential oils, soaps and flowers, but also jams, jellies, scented pillows and more.

Here is the program of the festival.

19 – 25 of June, from 09:00 to 19:00 – lavender gathering, walking in the field, excursions to nearby sights.

23 – 25 of June, from 09:00 to 19:00 – cultural program, lavender oil distillation, children’s activities, tours of natural attractions of Tihanyi.

19 – 30 of June, after 10:00 – at the Lavender House Visitor Centre on the Tihanyi Peninsula, from Monday to Friday, lavender oil distillation, lectures about lavender. From 13:00 to 16:00, master class on the production of lavender souvenirs. Participation fee is 500 HUF per person. In addition, after 17:00, each visitor of the Lavender House Visitor Centre having their own cup can taste lavender tea. All activities take place on the shores of the inland lakes on the Tihanyi Peninsula.
