"Era of Mercy. Realism 21" is the title of the exhibition of the famous artist Andriy Kartashov, that was opened yesterday, April 26, in the Transcarpathian Art Museum in Uzhgorod and will last until May 10. This is the first exhibition of the artist in his native Transcarpathia. Because the native of Uzhgorod is better known internationally than at home.
And no wonder. The 43-year-old artist has had an interesting life: born in the city on the Uzh, spent his childhood in Russia’s Leningrad, youth – in Uzhgorod, where he graduated from College of Applied Arts, then St. Petersburg again and studying at the State Academic Institute of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture. Participation in international art auctions, exhibitions. and projects in the USA, the Netherlands. Then, there was China. He is a member of the American Association of Portraitists, member of the Russia’s Union of Artists.
Now, the artist presents in the museum halls more than 60 works, some of them provided by collectors. Those are drawings, conceptual works, portraits. Works of various sizes. He likes to paint in large formats, because "you cannot cheat there, everything must be clearly arranged." The exhibited works are modern realism, the artist explains "it as when academic realism school as a means is embodied in the idea of modern picture." Therefore, each work has a blurb.
The exhibition aroused great interest among art lovers and artists. Though the reviews are mixed, but the exhibition left no visitor indifferent.
