Save “Tysa-FM”: the Chairman of the Regional Council will lobby for the preservation of the radio

On Wednesday, April 12, the Chairman of the Transcarpathian Regional Council Mykhailo Rivis was visited by the director of the executive branch of the National Public Broadcasting Company "Transcarpathian Regional Directorate" Vitaly Meshcheryakov, who was recently elected the chairman of the Transcarpathian National Union of Journalists of Ukraine. They talked about the preservation of the Tysa-FM and support from the regional council deputies.

– We are extremely concerned about the situation with the Tysa-FM radio, which is a part of the "Transcarpathian Regional Directorate" – Vitaly Meshcheryakov said. – Nearly two dozen young and talented radio workers may soon lose their jobs. And thousands of people not only in Transcarpathia, but also in many regions of Ukraine and abroad may lose their favorite radio. All that because of poorly thought out measures for establishment of the national network of Ukrainian radio and unification of broadcast networks of all regional broadcasters that do not take into account several important factors.

Given the significant public interest, all the staff of the executive branch of the National Public Broadcasting Company "Transcarpathian Regional Directorate" and the Transcarpathian organization of the National Union of Journalists of Ukraine ask Mykhailo Rivis and all the deputies of the Regional Council to support the radio by appealing at the nearest session to the government authorities that decide the fate of the Tysa-FM radio station.

– We ask to keep the current volumes of broadcast for Tysa FM radio, and under favorable conditions to expand them by granting the first Ukrainian radio channel a separate frequency in Uzhgorod. Creative potential, technical facilities, goodwill and experience of the radio Tysa FM can be used in the creation of the Nationwide network of youth Ukrainian radio channel as provided by law – Vitaly Meshcheryakov summed up.

The Chairman of the Regional Council Mykhailo Rivis assured Vitaly Meshcheryakov and the staff of the Tysa-FM radio station that he would ask the deputies to support the appeal to the competent state authorities to keep the existing volumes of broadcast for the regional radio station which is a true brand of Transcarpathia.
