The prospects of opening of the official mission of the Czech Republic in the city of Uzhgorod was discussed during a recent bilateral meeting in Prague between the Transcarpathian Regional Council chairman Mykhailo Rivis with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic Lubomír Zaorálek, the press service of the Transcarpathian Regional Council informs.
They also discussed further cooperation with Transcarpathia in socio-economic, scientific, cultural and tourism spheres.
Mykhailo Rivis said that Transcarpathia has a common history with the Czech Republic, because less than one hundred years ago it was a part of Czechoslovakia and a separate administrative region.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic Lubomír Zaorálek noted that the Czech government supports the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Ukraine. On the part of the Ministry, he promised to facilitate the opening of the Czech House in the regional center of Transcarpathia as soon as in August or September this year. This will be the first effective step and solve the problems of Transcarpathian workers regarding long bureaucratic issuance of visas in Lviv.
Also during the lively and constructive discussion, the parties discussed the issues of interaction and cooperation in the framework of the signed agreements between Transcarpathia and Czech regions.
The head of the Czech Foreign Ministry Lubomír Zaorálek praised the close partnership between the regions of Transcarpathia and the Czech Republic and wished further development of cross-border cooperation as an important component of international cooperation between Transcarpathia and the Czech Republic.
