On May 7, at 14:00, the charity Wings for Life World Run starts in Uzhgorod. It is a global charity race, which aims to raise funds to find treatments for spinal cord injuries. The participants around the world start simultaneously, thus uniting the six continents. Among the participants, there are beginners and experienced runners, professional athletes and participants in wheelchairs.
In 2016, the Wings for Life World Run was attended by 130,732 participants from 203 nations and raised 6.6 million euros for the sole purpose of the Wings for Life fund – to find treatments for spinal cord injuries.
A unique feature of the race is that participants run not TO the finish, but FROM it. The Catcher Car, which is "moving finish line," follows the participants at a set pace. The participant finishes the race when the Catcher Car catches up with him or her. The last man and woman, that the Catcher Car catches up with, become Global Champions!
Even those who do not have the opportunity to run in one of the official venues of the event, can join and participate in the APP RUN using the mobile application WINGS FOR LIFE WORLD RUN.
