An Uzhgorod resident robbed a man, and the victim was mistaken for a robber

Employees of the criminal police department in Uzhgorod identified and tracked down the man who had robbed a passer-by

A security guard of a plant in the regional center of Transcarpathia reported to the police about the detention of a man on the territory of the enterprise. At the scene, police officers found out that the man detained by the security guard had gotten lost at the plant after having been robbed by an unknown person. The victim told the police that the robber had taken his expensive mobile phone and a purse with 300 hryvnias and 10 euros.

Employees of the criminal police department in Uzhgorod identified the robber and seized the stolen property. The suspect was a 28-year-old local resident, who has repeatedly been brought to responsibility for property crimes.

A criminal proceeding over this incident was initiated under Part 2 of Art. 186 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, ie robbery combined with violence not dangerous to life or health of the victim. This offense is punishable by imprisonment for a term of four to six years.
