The police conducted a raid in Transcarpathian towns on the situation with minor beggars

The juvenile delinquency prevention sector conducted preventive checks over neglect, homelessness and begging in Uzhgorod, Mukachevo and Khust. During a week, 10 administrative reports were drawn up.

During the preventive raid, police officers checked 7 train and bus stations, 8 markets, 47 places, where young people gather, as well as parks in Uzhgorod, Mukachevo and Khust. In addition, law enforcement officers checked 45 minors at the places of residence, including 29 children, who are suspected of crimes, and 16 convicted without imprisonment.

Besides education and preventive work with children, they focused on counteracting begging by minors. In Khust, they recorded two cases of involvement of minors in criminal activity, namely begging.   

Overall, during a week, the police officers brought to administrative responsibility ten people, including six under Art. 184 of the Code on Administrative Offenses of Ukraine, ie failure to perform parenting duties by parents or persons substituting them, and four – under Art. 175-1 of the CAO, i.e. smoking by children in prohibited areas.
