Transcarpathia asks the Ukrzaliznytsia to stop inappropriate initiatives

 The management of the region asks the Cabinet to resume the operation of the train "Mukachevo – Volosyanka – Mukachevo"

  On February 2, the UZ, without any warning, canceled the operation of the suburban electric train "Mukachevo – Volosyanka – Mukachevo". Since for many years the population of four districts in Transcarpathia have been using this train, including residents of three major cities of the region (Uzhgorod, Mukachevo and Chop), this move of the UZ angered many people, especially those from the disadvantaged categories.

Since the beginning of the month, the regional administration has received many collective appeals requesting to resume the operation of the train. In response, the head of Regional State Administration Hennadiy Moskal and the Chairman of the Regional Council Mykhailo Rivis sent to the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine a joint letter in which they remind that in Transcarpathian region, more than 60 percent of roads are in mountainous areas, and 55 percent of roads run close to rivers and pass through 26 mountain passes. Therefore, the railway is one of the safest means of communication in winter and the most reliable one in the event of disaster.
