At night, border guards found contraband goods at more than 300,000 UAH

Last night, at the checkpoint "Luzhanka", border guards of the Mukachevo Detachment together with the customs officers prevented an attempt of cigarette smuggling.

Law enforcement officers suspected our compatriot, who had arrived at the checkpoint by a minibus "Mercedes Sprinter." The 24-year-old driver, a resident of Ivano-Frankivsk, tried to cross the border via the "green corridor" lane. During the first-line control, based on risk analysis, border guards initiated the in-depth inspection of the vehicle.  The vehicle was taken out of the general queue, for the second-line control.

During the the in-depth inspection by border guards together with customs officials, they found under the decorative plating tobacco products of various brands in amount of 4,960 packs.  

According to the established procedure, the report on administrative offense was drawn up against the offender, and the man lost not only the contraband cigarettes, but also the vehicle. The total value of the seized cigarettes was over 110,000 UAH, the vehicle was estimated at 219,000 UAH.
