Heavy snowfall, that increased in Transcarpathia on Friday morning (13.01), has significantly hampered vehicular traffic on the roads of the region. On steep ascents, lacets, passes, trucks are getting stuck, causing congestions.
– All-terrain rescue vehicles do not cope with towing trucks to safe areas, and the queues of vehicles make it impossible to properly clear the roads – Hennadiy Moskal said. – Therefore, it was decided to introduce in Transcarpathian region temporary restrictions on the movement of trucks in three areas – Uzhgorod bypass road leading to the cargo terminal on the Ukrainian-Slovak border, on the road "Mukachevo – Rohatyn", and on the highway "Kyiv – Chop" (Abransky and Latirsky passes near the checkpoint in Nyzhni Vorota in Volovets district are especially problematic).
The Regional Police Office was instructed to stop trucks and send them to waiting lots and the Road Service was instructed to engage more vehicles for clearing and pouring antiglaze mixture on the roads. Restrictions on freight traffic will be in force until the weather improves and the roads are free to drive.
Recall that last week, because of strong snowfall, movement of trucks was restricted on the passes and roads of national and international importance.
