A 21-year-old resident of Uzhgorod reported to the police that her appartment had been robbed by unknown persons. At the scene, the investigative team found out that the thief had entered the apartment through the unlocked door.
The owner of the appartment left it unattended for just 20 minutes, but this was enough for the thief. The thief took from the apartment two wallets with money, bank cards, a passport of a citizen of Ukraine, a student card, a tablet, a phone and a laptop. The amount of loss was 25,000 UAH.
The criminal police department of Uzhgorod police tracked down the suspect when he tried to sell the stolen goods. It was a 23-year-old unemployed resident of Uzhgorod. The man was arrested, the choice of pre-trial restraint against him is being decided.
A criminal proceeding over this incident was initiated under Part 3 of Art. 185 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (burglary) has been initiated. This offense is punishable by imprisonment for a term of three to six years.
