On December 17, the traditional, 19th regional festival titled "Slovak betlehem" took place in Uzhgorod Puppet Theater. Like all previous ones, it was organized by the cultural and educational organization "Matica Slovenska" in Ukraine. During this festival, traditionally, a competition in three categories takes place: "Best Slovak betlehem", "Best Slovak team of carolers" and "Best team performing Nativity play in Slovak language." This year, 10 teams from different areas of Transcarpathia densely populated by Slovaks took part in the festival.
The participants of the holiday were awarded with certificates and souvenirs. At the end of the holiday, all participants performed the carol "Silent Night" by F. Gruber in Slovak.
