Last night, border guards of the department "Horonhlab" of the Mukachevo Detachment prevented another attempt of cigarettes smuggling. While monitoring border area, a border patrol found near the barrier fence two packages of cigarettes wrapped in black plastic bags.
A 35-year-old resident of the village of Lypove in Beregovo district tried to illegally move cigarettes across the border. Having left the packages near the fence, the man tried to escape from the police, but border guards detained the Ukrainian near the border and took him and the cigarettes to the department of Border Guard Service. The packages, that our compatriot tried to move across the border, contained 1,270 packs of cigarettes "Davidof" with excise stamps of Ukraine. The cigarettes were handed over to SFS employees who estimated them at 30,238 hryvnia.
A report on administrative violation was drawn up against the man. The case was brought to court.
