Today, in the atrium of the Transcarpathian Regional State Administration, there was the opening of the exhibition on the occasion of the International Day of Disabled Persons.
About a hundred artists from all over the region presented a voluminous and diverse collection of nearly 300 works in various genres of literature, fine and decorative art.
Denys Sukhotin, the chairman of the Transcarpathian regional society of disabled explained: "International Day of Disabled Persons is not a holiday. It is a day when society tell us that they respect us for willpower, the desire to live. And with this exhibition, we want to thank people, we want to show them that we are worthy of this trust, this respect."
Today, there are about 60 thousand people with disabilities in the region, 10% of which are children. These days, a number of events throughout the region is devoted to the presentation of their achievements in various fields, as well as the discussion of social problems special people face.
The exhibition in the atrium will run until December 16. Visiting it, everyone will be able to see that these exhibits are not just the result of art therapy for special people, but quite competitive art works, which, by the way, can be purchased by contacting the Transcarpathian society of disabled (Narodna Sq., 4, office 151).
