Details of purchase of apartments for families of killed and disabled ATO participants

Last year, at the expense of government subsidies, 36 families of fallen soldiers, who took part in the anti-terrorist operation, and 1-2 group disabled ATO participants were provided with appartments. this year – none. But, about a week ago, they received UAH 8.5 million of state subventions for this purpose.

This was told at a briefing by the Deputy Director of the Social Welfare Department of the Regional State Administration Natalia Omelyanyuk. She adds that the money will be enough to purchase appartments for 12 families of the killed soldiers and 4 families of 1-2 group disabled ATO participants (although they are still short of 100,000 UAH). In total, there are currently 21 families in the queue, so 5 of them will have to wait.

However, they have already sent the request for additional UAH 2,335.03 thousand to provide all those, who are on the waiting list, with appartments. It is expected that the funds will be received by the end of the year.

There are some innovations. While last year, the money was at the disposal of district state administrations and city executive committees, which would buy appartments based on the requests of citizens, starting October 2016, the controllers of the funds are local social protection services, and appartments will be chosen and bought by the deceased’s family member (or authorized representative).

They will have a year to buy an appartment. While previously they could buy it only in the settlement, where they were registered, now they can buy an appartment anywhere in the region, Mrs Omelyanyuk says.

It should be noted that appartments in the regional center are more expensive than at the periphery. The cost of housing is calculated based on the rate of 7,470 UAH per square meter, in Uzhgorod – 11,218 UAH per square meter.

After the family has bought an appartment, they need to contact the social protection service within 30 days.

According to Mrs. Omelyanyuk, there are 83 families of fallen soldiers and many 1-2 group disabled ATO participants in the region. But, as noted, only 21 of them are on the waiting list for appartments. So if any family of that category have housing problems, they should contact social protection service.
