History Faculty of UzhNU will be protected by the Board of its graduates

The head of a department of the Faculty of History of UzhNU Roman Ofitsynsky sent the Uzhgorod.in the statement signed by several well-known people in the region.

As you know, the management of Uzhgorod National University, on November 7-8, 2016, for a very subjective motives decided to eliminate one of the oldest faculties – the Faculty of History. In the open statement of the staff, and in the statement of the faculty trade union, they expressed protest against the unreasonable decision. In difficult times, the faculty graduates, who work in institutions of education, science, culture, public bodies and local authorities, enterprises and organizations in many regions of Ukraine and abroad, decided to support their faculty. 

Statement of the graduates of the Faculty of History

of Uzhhorod State (National) University

We support the open statement of the faculty staff and the statement of its trade union on disagreement with the unreasonable decision of the university management on the reorganization, or rather elimination of the Faculty of History. We believe that the Faculty of History of Uzhgorod National University should remain as an independent unit.

We are initiating the Board of graduates of the faculty with the aim of its protection and development, which is impossible without effective interaction between students and employers, modernization of the educational process and classrooms.
