Despite all the searches at the checkpoint, no Transcarpathian customs officer is punished

Despite all the searches at the checkpoint and "reformatting" of the personnel, no Transcarpathian customs officer was arrested and punished.

The maximum penalty for the customs officers suspected of smuggling was suspension from work, the acting chief of the Transcarpathian customs office Stanislav Baluev confirmed.

Widely publicized visits of other law enforcement and regulatory services officers and alleged "reformatting of checkpoints" also failed to lead to any massive or even active measures. Just several people were temporarily suspended from work.

Thus, at the briefing in the Transcarpathian customs office, the officials informed that customs officers at the following checkpoints were suspended: "Tisa" – 9 persons, "Solotvyno" – 4 persons, two officials were suspended in Selmentsi, as well the suspects in two cases of connivance to smuggling.

Nobody was arrested. Even the employee suspected of receiving improper benefits in the high-profile case – the one who hid about seven thousand euros in dog’s enclosure – was not detained.
