In Velyky Berezny district, flood water blocked the road “Uzhgorod – Lviv”

Over the past fifteen days, rainfall rate in Transcarpathia has reached two-month norm – 160 mm. The highest rise of water levels is expected in the rivers of Uzh, Latorica and Borzhava. In the village of Sil in Velyky Berezny district, due to water overfow, vehicular traffic on the road "Uzhgorod – Lviv" is restricted. Trucks can pass the flooded stretch of the road freely, passenger cars have to make a detour through the village of Knyahynya and the village of Strychava.

Within a few hours, the water level is expected to drop, then the traffic will be resumed in full. In the village of Chornoholova and the village of Stuzhytsya, several yards are flooded. In addition, about 30 yards in the village of Zarichevo in Perechyn district remain flooded, rescue teams are working at the scene.

On Monday night, near Rakhiv, a mudflow resulting from intense rains partially blocked a local road leading to the village of Bohdan. As of 10.00, rescue crews cleared the road, the traffic is free. In the village of Tyshiv in Volovets district, landslide occured, according to preliminary data, one residential house is in the danger zone.

Tonight and tomorrow afternoon, the maximum rise of water level in the rivers of Irshavka and Borzhava (Irshava and Vynogradiv district) is expected. Rescuers are working at the scenes, mobile pumping stations were sent to the most dangerous areas.

According to intergovernmental agreements, Transcarpathian region warned its neighbors Romania, Hungary and Slovakia about the emergency.
