Regulation of the car market must be based on the quality and affordability of vehicles for our citizens – Robert Horvat

The plenary week has ended. MP Robert Horvat comments on its results:

"For the first time in my parliamentary career, the budget process is going on in the manner regulated by the law. The government promptly submitted the draft budget for 2017, which was supported in the first reading.

Yesterday, I appealed to the Ministry of Infrastructure about the certification of cars. According to my information, the work on the adaptation of our requirements for the certification of vehicles imported from the United States continues. In the desire to protect the environment from European and American cars imported to Ukraine, they did not notice that they had banned the import of electric vehicles that are as environmentally friendly as they can be. Perhaps this collapse is the result of the transfer of authority from the Minister of Economic Development to the Ministry of Infrastructure, but the absence of approved procedure for assessment of certification bodies creates a lot of risks in their work. It is obvious that regulation of the car market must be based on the quality and affordability of vehicles for our citizens, its update and modernization, because it affects the safety of road users. We are constantly working on it."
