In Transcarpathia, the Security Service of Ukraine caught an official on theft of over half a million hryvnia

Officers of the Security Service of Ukraine in Transcarpathian region exposed a scheme, using which an official of the "Ukrposhta" appropriated public funds intended for the reconstruction of production facilities.
The official responsible for the quality of repairs made fictitious agreements with "contractors" to the bank accounts of which public funds were transferred. The total cost of reconstruction, according to estimates, was UAH 5.5 million.
It was established that he hired unqualified people for the repair of the buildings, and appropriated the money intended for reconstruction. Thus, the offender managed to steal more than half a million hryvnia. In addition to damage caused to the state, the offender temporarily paralyzed the work of the regional mail center.
The illegal activities of the official were documented by officers of the regional office of the Security Service of Ukraine and the regional prosecutor’s office. The offender was notified of being suspected of forgery and theft of public funds under Part. 2 of Art. 366 and Part 4 of Art. 191 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
