The case of the “Special Control” members detained in Barvinok will soon be sent to court

Almost a month has passed since the day when Uzhgorod was shaken by a headline-making incident – two so-called "activists of the NGO "Special Control", suspected of extortion of money from an official of the State Transport Safety Service, were arrested while receiving money near the cemetery in Barvinok.

Recall that according to previous reports, they demanded US $ 4,000 for not posting online the video that they had shot. Later, they settled for $ 1,500. However, the official reported the blackmail to the police, and, as a result, the greedy "contollers" were arrested.

The court imposed on the detainee a pretrial restraint in the form of house arrest. As there has been no new information about the progress of the case since, Uzhgorod residents began to express fears that the high-profile case will be "hushed up."

We asked the acting head of the Communications Department of the National Police Office in Transcarpathian region Galina Sernivka about the progress of the investigation in the case.

The investigator, who is working on this case, reported that the pretrial investigation is almost completed. By mid-September, all the materials will have been prepared, checked and sent to the court.
