On Sunday, August 21, the amateur cycling marathon "Paths of Rebels 2016" was held in Rakhiv. This competition was held for the fourth time and every year it brings together increasingly more participants and spectators from all of Transcarpathia and Ukraine. This year’s event was attended even by cyclists from abroad.
Athletes were racing on two types of courses: Light – 47 km and Hardcore – 78 km.
Ferenc Hutlebet from Uzhgorod was the winner on the Light course with the time 2 hours 37 minutes. Andriy Scherbatsky and Yuriy Rasko from Kyiv took 2nd and 3rd places respectively. In the category Light 35+ (athletes who have turned 35), Oleksandr Bryukhanov won the first place, Yuriy Tymtso from Lutsk finished second, and Tomas Velichko from Khust – third. Among women, Oleksandra Matsneva was the fastest, Katerina Kudasheva from Uzhgorod won silver and Olena Harkava – bronze award.
On the Hardcore track, Dmytro Sokolov from Odesa finished in 5 hours 11 minutes – and his result was the best. Yevhen Zakora finished second more than 12 minutes behind, and Artem Stryzhak came third. In the category Hardcore 35+, Andriy Navrotsky was the winner, finishing 5 minutes ahead of Valeriy Domanitsky, who came the second. An athlete from Denmark Micha el Sommer took the third place. Khrystyna Konvisarova showed the best result among women on the Hardcore course. Her rivals Olga Viyuk and Marina Novozhenina finished 2nd and 3rd respectively.
