Volunteers came across a mysterious discovery among the ruins of the Khust castle (PHOTOS)

The information that Khust activists, who are actively clearing the ruins of the ancient fortress in the town on the Tisa, have found something interesting was posted on Facebook.

Since June, the volunteers have done truly titanic work – they cut shrubs, removed debris, exposed the remains of the once magnificent palace, set up benches.

And on August 18, the activists came across a mysterious discovery – either a tunnel or e ventilation shaft.

– There were three of us working there. We were doing our usual work and suddenly found a strange passage, which is likely a secret entrance to the guard room of the castle. We also came across the remains of plaster with inscriptions. Overall, I am very satisfied with the results of the work. It was a great experience. Given the small number of workers, we managed to do quite a lot of work. By the way, we got to places, that no human have set their foot on for the last 5-8 years. We cleaned the guard room and defensive walls to the left from the Entrance Gates to the Second Gate. Many thanks to Oleg and Sasha. All did the best job – the head of the NGO "Foyta" and the organizer of the "cleaning" Ivan Kudelya said.

By the way, next week, one of the famous architects from the capital, a specialist of the nationwide level will come to Khust to advise volunteer on cleaning of the castle.

It should be noted that in recent years there has been a lot of talks about the dungeons of the Khust castle. Their existence is confirmed by writing printed sources of Austro-Hungarian period. However, according to some of them, there are three underground passages, and according to others, there are seven.
