“Activists” demanded from an official one hundred thousand for not publishing compromising video (PHOTOS, VIDEO)

The Office of Criminal Investigation, the Investigation Department, the rapid response team of Transcarpathian regional police caught "red-handed" the head of an Uzhgorod NGO that position themselves as those who closely monitor the observance of traffic rules and integrity of the policemen.

The "road controllers" demanded compensation in the amount of 100,000 UAH for not posting on the Internet a compromising video about an inspector of a state service, later they agreed to 40,000 UAH. The fact of extortion was documented in accordance with current legislation. 

A local civil servant, who holds a high position in the region, reported to Transcarpathian police that civil activists had made a video about him and his subordinates, and demanded 100,000 hryvnia or 4,000 dollars for not posting it on their official page.

Law enforcement officers found out that at first two members of the notorious Uzhgorod NGO demanded from the official 100,000 UAH in cash, but then agreed to the three times less amount – 1,500 dollars, or almost 40,000 hryvnia. The transfer of the money took place in the afternoon at the cemetery in the village of Barvinok in Uzhgorod district.

Two members of the NGO came at the meeting with specially prepared signs that modeled possible developments of a conversation needed to transfer the cash. They did it so that their conversation could not be recorded on electronic media. At the moment of transfer of the money, the "activists" were detained by policemen.

 The involvement of this group of persons in other similar offenses is being checked.
