Transcarpathian police have found a "Skoda Yeti", which was stolen in the Czech Republic at the end of 2014. The price of the car in Ukraine is about 20 thousand dollars, its price in the EU is 2 times lower.
Last night, July 19, crews of patrol police Uzhgorod and Mukachevo received from the Interpol the information about a car on Sobranetska street in Uzhgorod, which was in the wanted list. The policemen checked the number of the car body and the documents of the driver and found out that the "Skoda Yeti" had been stolen in the EU, namely the Czech Republic.
The investigative team was called at the scene. They interviewed the driver and took the vehicle to the impound lot of Uzhgorod Police Department. The current owner of the car said that he had bought the car and knew nothing about its origin.
This is the third disclosure of similar crimes in Transcarpathian region in the last 10 days. Thus, the other day the police found in Uzhgorod a "Maserati" that had been stolen in the Czech Republic. A Transcarpathian bought this car for 48,000 euros. In Mukachevo, the police seized a "Range Rover" stolen in Germany.
Overall, since the beginning of the year, 45 car thefts have been reported in Transcarpathia. The police have notified 14 persons of being suspected of illegal seizure of vehicles. Pre-trial investigations in 11 such cases have been completed. There have also been three incidents in the region where thieves left cars in the woods because it was impossible to take the stolen vehicles from the region.
