On July 17, an inspector of Border Guard Service appealed to law enforcement officers. The 40-year-old resdient of Uzhgorod reported that during the passport control, a resident of Ivano-Frankivsk, who is a US citizen, tried to give her undue advantage. The man put four hundred hryvnia into a passport. That’s how he tried to solve the problem of exceeding the allowed duration of stay in Ukraine.
The money banknotes were seized. According to the explanation of the American, he just forgot to take the money out of the passport before showing it to border guards.
A few hours later, at the same post, another offer of undue advantage was recorded. This time, a couple of Austrians tried to pay a Border Guard Service officer 30 euros for unimpeded entrance to Ukraine. The cash was seized and the attempted bribery was documented.
The facts are being investigated.
Remember that under Art. 369 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, attempt of giving undue advantage is punishable by a fine of two hundred to five hundred untaxed minimum incomes or imprisonment for a term of two to five years.
